The Ledge, NYC

Photos taken by a woman who struggles with depression and anxiety.

About this photo: I often feel like I’m on a ledge or wanting to be on a ledge. Each day it can be a different ledge. At the edge of a mood crash, or potential lift. I try not to think about what could be, but my thoughts flood anyway, and seem to overlap. Especially if I am sitting in silence. I use television, internet, or music to distract me from it, flood the flood, but they’re still there lurking. The same conversations, scenes, thoughts over and over again, but in different ways, like these photos. The same but different. Over and over.

  1. Thank you for sharing your view. The ledge can be a good place to confront life; however, by looking at it and pulling back you allow yourself to walk a different path.
Remember to look up and to the light.

  2. Interesting. Looking at something, again and again, in the same way, or sometimes from a slightly different angle. What’s forcing this compulsion, I wonder?

  3. Very compelling. Thank you for standing down from the edge to share the perspective… well, thank you for standing down from the ledge, altogether. It’s amazing how much pictures convey.

(I love your overall composition, as well.)
