Photo taken by contributor Michael Ross, a 57-year-old man from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Michael has struggled with anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder for most of his life. Photography helps him deal with the daily struggles, but sometimes becomes a battle of perfectionism.
About this photo: “Now back in therapy, we are discussing medication again, some I’ve been on before as well as new ones with supposedly fewer side effects. I thought about my past experiences and how the whole thing can be kind of like running in circles.
I found this quote by actress Gene Tierney and it’s exactly what I’ve been thinking. Although I’ve never had shock treatments, living on a farm sounds fantastic.
She said: ‘I ask myself: would I have been any worse off if I had stayed home or lived on a farm instead of shock treatments and medication?’”
