Deterioration and Growth

Photo taken by Clare in Massachusetts, who has suffered from anxiety and panic disorder for at least a dozen years, among other mental health issues. It has affected her home life, work life, and personal life in many ways. She is trying to fight through it by working with doctors, using medication as needed, and immersing herself in her photography.

About this photo: “Sometimes, many times, I just need to get away. Away from family, friends, work, everything. It’s not for lack of loving them, it is just something I need so that my problems don’t escalate. I try to listen to what my body and my mind are telling me and find a place where I can escape to and find solitude. I loved finding this particular place because of the contrast between the rust and deterioration of the abandoned truck, and the life of the determined vines that have broken through and kept growing despite anything in their way. I often feel like the rusted out old truck, broken and stuck, but I am working towards being more like the vines, so I can continue on no matter what obstacles get in my way.

As probably many people I hear what you are saying…I find myself wandering o aswell from everybody and everything, but no longer see it as a flee from all, but am looking at it now as building on a stronger return to what I love most
