Photo by contributor Patrycja Marciniak, a 24-year-old graphic designer, artist, and photographer from Poland who has struggled with depression, anxiety, and dermatillomania, the urge to scratch and pick at one’s skin.
About this photo: “This is actually a very personal photo; I took it after I came home from a party where I suffered a huge depression attack and remembered the tip about writing or doodling on your skin with a pen as an alternative to self-harm. Soon my forearm was all blue from ink – but I’m glad it was so; the ink can be washed away, and memories of self-harm cannot.”
