Please welcome first-time contributor Janine, a woman who has struggled with depression for nearly ten years. She has found it difficult to engage with others, especially in social situations, and has been afraid of what others will think and say. Janine is now dealing with her depression in a positive way by putting together a short ‘day in the life of’ memoir entitled ‘Behind the Pink, There’s Blue’ titled as such due to her having bright pink hair. The book was shared with a group of friends which she found extremely daunting but also extremely cathartic. This sharing was the start of her acceptance of living with depression and promoting support available to others.

About this photo: “I took this image as a continuation of my ‘day in the life of’ book, working collaboratively with a friend whose daughter experiences many different struggles with aspects of mental health. We chatted over a cuppa about her experiences, emotions and enthusiasm to raise awareness of mental health issues.
