Photo taken by first-time contributor Kitt O’Malley, a mother and wife who lives with bipolar disorder type II. Kitt is licensed in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist, but hasn’t practiced as a psychotherapist in over 20 years. She has a bachelors in legal studies from UC Berkeley, a masters in psychology from New College of California, and has attended Fuller Theological Seminary. Her career path has included working as a legal assistant, psychotherapist, and commercial real estate professional. Now, she advocates for those who, like her, live with mental illness, by writing and using social media.
About this photo: “I find nature, specifically flowers, beautiful. Always have. Taking photos of colorful flowers uplifts me, improves my mood, and gives me hope. In a flower, in a tree’s branches, in the sun breaking through the clouds, I see God and experience peace.”

What a gorgeous photo – simply looking at it cheers me up – I just wish I could breathe in its scent! Thank you, Kitt O’Malley, for taking a moment to examine the beauty of nature and share it with us. The fact that you are living with bipolar II while advocating for others who struggle with mental illness is inspiring!

Beautiful. I admire this blog and the contributors for dealing with the many things they do. I would love to ask if anyone who sees this comment and who is interested in aiding in suicide prevention would check out my informational post about the SI Project’s fundraiser for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. We have 15 hours left of it as of now and we need some help with the hoodies. Many people have bought them already, but not enough to print, (we need 50) Anyone interested in supporting the project? I would really like some help…. this is a cause very close to me.

I’ve sponsored someone else for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention already, but I will promote your request using social media.
