Please say a warm hello to first-time contributor Anna Jean, a 20-year-old woman located in Leicester, UK. One of Anna Jean’s close family members suffers from manic depression, and while the rest of the family refuse to be diagnosed, many struggle with symptoms of various mental illnesses, including the artist herself.
About this photo: “When I took the photo I was at a particularly low point emotionally. For about a month, I was inexplicably drained, unhappy – but at the same time feeling numb and devoid of emotion. I struggled to get out of bed in the mornings and had absolutely no motivation to carry out my everyday life. I was falling drastically behind with my work, and decided instead of making myself miserable, or feeling guilty about my inactivity, I would turn it into work and make something productive and therapeutic out of my negative emotion.”
