Please welcome first-time contributor P. McCormick, a 20-year-old from Cincinnati, Ohio. She has been battling depression and anxiety since the age of 12. Her father has also suffered from depression secretly for over 20 years. He finally admitted to it in recent years, and accepted help over the past six months. Unfortunately he has still struggled and even attempted suicide recently. P’s father, mother, and younger siblings all now attend therapy. P. is scared of heading down a similarly destructive path as her father. She feels for him, but cannot bring herself to forgive him for denying his mental health issues for so many years (and blaming hers on teen angst), and how his denial has negatively impacted her mental health.
