Resilience

Photo taken by first-time contributor Isabel Thalken, a 19-year-old girl from central Nebraska. She was diagnosed with severe clinical depression and social anxiety at the age of 12. She is forced to overcome obstacles every day, but thankfully has found her true passion in photography to help her through.

About this photo: “This photograph is one depicting triumph. It was my first attempt to truly create art from my pain. I now battle Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, a condition which causes me to pass out frequently. I have been told that I have some frontal lobe damage from numerous concussions. This new diagnoses first shook my emotional stability, but now, I see it as a reminder of how strong I have grown to be.
