Photo taken by first-time contributor Brandon, an 18 year-old who has suffered from depression and severe anxiety for as long as he can remember. He is a self harm survivor as well. His anxiety hit its peak when he was in 11th grade. He was at school and ended up fainting on the steps. After that, he was put on anti-depressants. He can’t say they fully helped the depression, but at least they stopped the fainting.
About this photo: “This photograph was kind of an “on-the-spot” photograph I took in an alley way with only a flashlight to light the set. It symbolizes a personal struggle. The light representing clarity, and me wanting to find it. The blank expression and general dark tone of the photograph portrays darkness being the only thing I’ve known for a long time, and I’ve finally found what I’ve been looking for. The light. When I look at this, it reminds me that even though I still get very under the weather sometimes, there still will be light at the end of the tunnel. Well, in my case.. light trapped tightly within the jar. It reminds me that everything will be okay, no matter how long I have to wait. I’ll find my light some day.”
