Breaking Free

Photos taken by Katie Mc Dougall, a student photographer in Ireland. Katie has suffered from Social Anxiety since she was 15-years-old. 3 years ago she was diagnosed officially, and she has been on medication ever since. Katie is using photography as a means to raise awareness and help understand Social Anxiety herself. It has driven her to create a blog dedicated to sharing her thoughts and experiences with Social Anxiety, with the hopes that it will help those who also suffer because of this mental illness.

About these photos: “This series of images describes my feelings of how others see me, white jacket, padded walls. Panic sets in and the jacket gets tighter not allowing me to breath when all I want is to be liberated. The jacket represent the control my SA has over me and the fact that I just want to escape from it..”
