Photo taken by Ruth Mower, a 54 year old woman living in Arizona. She graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography several years ago. During her time as a student working on her degree, she was in counseling grappling with challenges from PTSD and Dissociative Identity Disorder. Photography helped her explore her own mind and try to accept her past.
About this photo: This photograph is a black and white print that I scanned into the computer. It is part of a series of photographs called ‘From Pain to Power.’ I used these photographs in my book ‘We Are One’ in which I share my story of integrating my parts into a whole person. (Link to my book at the bottom of my site.) I still struggle with PTSD but now I am integrated. I share my ongoing journey from victim to survivor to thriving on my blog. I was blessed on my journey with excellent counselors, family and friends.

Very powerful photo, well done.

I love what is not being said in this photo — it has quite a story to tell.
