Who we are & why we are

Welcome to the gallery site of Broken Light Collective. We are artists of all levels and abilities who are affected by mental illness. We create and we share our work for the therapeutic benefits to us, as well as others who may be struggling and feeling scared and alone. Together we can move from disconnected to collective.

Photos taken by contributor Hank, a writer based in Rochester, N.Y. who has been closely affected by mental illness. He has had many friends and family members who have struggled, especially with depression.

About these photos: “To me, these three images speak to 1. the power of hope  2. the presence of hope in a challenging, often dark world and 3. the uncertainty and fearfulness that can often accompany hope.
