Photo taken by contributor Morgan, a 21-year-old woman living in California. Morgan has suffered from bipolar depression and anxiety for many years. She experienced her first anxiety attack at the age of 10, and it has been a battle ever since. Her mental health improved greatly after the birth of her daughter, when she felt true unconditional love and acceptance from someone. Morgan thinks very passionately about photography. It’s so much more than just taking pictures to her, it’s a coping mechanism.
About this photo: “I know this is really just a photo of some words I have written down in honor of May being Mental Health Awareness Month but, I feel like I need to share this with the community. I hope these words can reach someone who needs it.”

This photo that I took being shared today has even greater meaning than it had before. Today, I’m mourning the loss of one of my role models, Chris Cornell. His music has impacted me greatly throughout my life. Finding out that he committed suicide is a hard pill to swallow. People closest to him are speaking out about how he showed no signs of even being depressed…
I’m writing this now just urging people to speak out if they are suffering. You are not alone. You are not weak for reaching out. If you need to vent to someone, I am always here to lend a listening ear. Do not suffer quietly.
