Who we are & why we are

Welcome to the gallery site of Broken Light Collective. We are artists of all levels and abilities who are affected by mental illness. We create and we share our work for the therapeutic benefits to us, as well as others who may be struggling and feeling scared and alone. Together we can move from disconnected to collective.

Thirsty

Photo taken by contributor Jacque who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and ADHD. She is a graphic designer, wife, and mother to two boys. She is learning to draw from God’s strength to get her through every day. She has also found art and music to be great healers and outlets for the soul.

About this photo: “Taking pictures has truly become a passion for me and helps me to connect when I feel disconnected to people and the world around me. I love walking through old buildings, factories, and barns, and catching a glimpse of what once was. I connect with layers of paint, rubble, the rust, the weathering of the bricks, because they represent character to me. Some may see it as ugly, but I see beauty, and this makes me thirsty for more…”

When life is sometimes reduced to the most basic things, we learn to find beauty where others cannot. Keep going!!!!
