Please welcome first-time contributor Saro Anne, a 36-year-old wife, mother and poet who has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, bulimia, generalized anxiety disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. She uses the power of language to break down the barriers that her diagnoses have built up over the course of her lifetime.
About these photos: “I took these photos of my 4 year old daughter because she is my lodestone. In these pictures, she is a fairy, but in some shots sports a mustache. I want her to defy conventions, a cultural iconoclast secure in her worth, needing validation from none. We took some shots in our backyard atop the castle chicken coop and some at an abandoned restaurant with a classical Greek courtyard.”
