Photo taken by contributor Joshua R Beharry, a 29-year-old from Vancouver, British Columbia, who has suffered from depression. He is currently the project coordinator for HeadsUpGuys, a website targeting men’s depression, and writes about his own recovery at Mental Health Point of View.
About this photo: “This is a photo from the first time I ever shot in a studio with strobes a few years ago. Back then I wasn’t very confident in my photography and was too shy to ask someone to pose, so I took some quick shots of myself. This is still one of my favourite photos; it reminds me that sometimes I just have experiment, learn as I go, and trust in my artistic sense to capture the moment. These days I mostly shoot natural light portraits and enjoy meeting new people though photography.”
