Please welcome first-time contributor Matthew Malin, a 23-year-old man who lives in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Matthew has suffered bouts of depression and anxiety for nearly five years. He uses his writing, photography, and music to share his story of how God brought him out of hopelessness and back into the light.

About these photos: “These pictures are just a glimpse into the pain, suffering, and loneliness I have felt but also images of a heart renewed.”

    A powerful sequence of photos! I am glad to hear that you have a relationship with God. The shard of glass you are holding looks like a ship. The part where you are screaming reminds me of my meltdowns. I find that with photography, whatever style, I need to capture everything, not just what’s pretty. That’s life. Hope you will submit more:)
