Safe Place

Photo taken by first-time contributor Jo, a 63-year-old Native woman from Arizona who has been struggling most of her life with depression, PTSD and dissociation. Jo still struggles daily, but she is now on a path towards healing. Photography of nature is part of her self-care and healing process.

About this photo: “This photo is of my ‘Safe Place’ taken just a few weeks ago. This is where I go when life becomes a struggle. Here, I am safe, nothing can touch me, no one can hurt me.”

  1. What an amazing photo. It’s never too late, and worth the maturity you have, I hope you will continue to find places and ways to feel secure. Nature is always there, can always inspire us, if we just really look, and obviously you do.

    1. Thank you very much. Remaining positive through the healing process is extremely important. I believe that is why I am drawn to photos of nature.
