Who we are & why we are

Welcome to the gallery site of Broken Light Collective. We are artists of all levels and abilities who are affected by mental illness. We create and we share our work for the therapeutic benefits to us, as well as others who may be struggling and feeling scared and alone. Together we can move from disconnected to collective.

Photo taken by contributor Morgan, a 20-year-old woman living in California. Morgan has suffered from bipolar depression and anxiety for many years now. Her mental health has improved greatly after having her daughter and feeling true unconditional love from someone. Morgan began to explore photography a few years ago as a way to escape.

About this photo: There’s this carousel by where I live, I go to see it about once a month. I’m drawn to it. When I see it, it gives me peace and hope. There’s just something about it. Maybe because it holds so many children that are so happy, filled with laughter, and big dreams. Ever since I had my daughter she has taught me how to appreciate the little things and to live in the moment. Because they won’t last forever. I wish to be young and carefree again.
