Who we are & why we are

Welcome to the gallery site of Broken Light Collective. We are artists of all levels and abilities who are affected by mental illness. We create and we share our work for the therapeutic benefits to us, as well as others who may be struggling and feeling scared and alone. Together we can move from disconnected to collective.

Photos taken by first-time contributor Morgan, a 20-year-old woman living in California. Morgan began experiencing depression and anxiety after her father tried to take his own life. Her mental health has improved greatly since that time, especially after having her daughter and feeling true unconditional love from someone. Morgan began to explore photography a few years ago as a way to escape.

About these photos: “You know that feeling when you are laying in bed and you pull the sheet up past your face and start to feel really claustrophobic and struggling to take a deep breath? Welcome to my anxiety. I call this little project ‘Anxiety In Between The Sheets’”
