Opening The Door On Mental Illness

Photo taken by contributor Jacque who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and ADHD. She is a graphic designer, wife, and mother to two boys. She is learning to draw from God’s strength to get her through every day. She has also found art and music to be great healers and outlets for the soul.

About this photo: “I think this image shows hope from the darkness I so often feel… I have felt shunned by some family members and friends since revealing my illness. It’s important that we spread the word and educate people that there is hope and a wide variety of treatment available for everyone. We don’t have to keep living in the darkness of our mental illnesses.”

  1. Love the photo. Lord knows how many times I tried looking for this door. I am in complete agreement with you that we who suffer from mental illness need to let others know that we matter.
