Fire

Photo taken by a first-time contributor from Warsaw, Poland. She is an amateur photographer who experienced depression after her fiancé passed away from cancer.

About this photo: “This photo was taken in my apartment. I used an opened Physalis husk, together with cut twigs that a neighbor gave me in autumn from her garden, to create a “fire.” In my native language we sometimes call close nuclear family relationships or home in general, a kind of family hearth. Fire has many other positive connotations. It shines light, warms you,  you can burn what is bad in it, prepare food so it will be safe to eat and easier to digest, etc. It is also often used as metaphor for passion. I hope this fire will lift up anyone who sees it…”
