Photo taken by contributor Thirdeyemom, who experienced severe postpartum depression after the birth of her first child. It was a terrifying, isolating experience for her, which included terrible insomnia and hallucinations. Thankfully with the help of doctors and family, one week after her son’s first birthday she was able to board a plane to South Africa, resuming her love of travel. Through traveling, writing, and photography she began to see the beauty of the world again.
About this photo: “Last August my father and I did a six day trek through Vanoise National Park in the heart of the Alps. I had recently purchased a new camera and loved experimenting with such gorgeous scenery. I adore mountains and being outside. I took this photo on our second day of hiking to the Arpont Hut in the middle of nowhere. It was a lovely day and I felt on top of the world, how I often feel while hiking. I love how the light and the clouds against the spectacular mountain backdrop. It took my breath away.“

Seems like a natural high to be experienced by not only you but also the viewer of this fantastically composed photograph. Glad you could capture this and happy you were able to take the trip with your father.
