Who we are & why we are

Welcome to the gallery site of Broken Light Collective. We are artists of all levels and abilities who are affected by mental illness. We create and we share our work for the therapeutic benefits to us, as well as others who may be struggling and feeling scared and alone. Together we can move from disconnected to collective.

Photo taken by first-time contributor Andy, an English amateur photographer, aged 45, as well as an amateur writer of short stories, and artist using mixed media. He is fascinated by dereliction in architecture and abandonment. He has been in counseling for over two years, slowly repairing the wounds of childhood, and the relentless oppression of homophobia. Andy has also written a book: Spicy Green Ginger, a collection of short stories set in Hull, Beverley and East Yorkshire.

About this photo: “I recently got put on Citalopram, and on the day I started I took this photograph.
