Photo taken by The Happy Mango, a 28-year-old woman from Copenhagen. She was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder two years ago, which has meant a lot of soul searching, practice in self awareness and endless medicine adjustments – all of which made her get even worse before she got better. But the past couple of months she has actually begun to take pleasure in the things she used to again (it comes and goes in waves), one of them being photography. So she started her blog “The Happy Mango” this week, to give her a sort of purpose and a gentle push to do more of the things that make her feel better, and also share the good parts, because she believes that they are a big part of the healing process.
About this photo: “Last summer I started a project called I heart Copenhagen. The idea was to walk around various areas of the city finding and photographing interesting stores, cafe’s and other places. It was great – got me out of the house, let me practice a little photography and had me communicating with other human beings (not as easy as it sounds sometimes).
This is a self portrait I took while doing my I heart Copenhagen project. It kind of shows the world distorted and me in the middle of it all trying to recognise myself in the mirror”
