Lost Doll

Photo taken by a 40+ year-old woman diagnosed with bipolar 3 disorder and ADD. She is also a Clinical Psychologist and budding photographer.

About this photo: “This is a follow up submission to “Happy Help“, which was the first part of an assignment for a photography class. The counterpart, photographing representations of my nightmares, came much more easily than did happy dreams. This photo was taken in the parking area at our public lakeside beach. I was startled to discover the fallen doll covered with muddy tire tracks. During my childhood, Barbie provided escape and comfort from some difficult feelings and situations. Dark Images and fantasies abound for me in this photo. I didn’t move or position her, in fact, after shooting this, I decided to return the next couple of days to follow her demise. She deteriorated and later disappeared.
