Gift For A Friend

Photo taken by a contributor from South Africa who was diagnosed several years ago at age forty with Aspergers and Major Depression. Last year, he left his job in the corporate sector to try and rebuild for his family after reaching a personal low that left him feeling useless and thinking often about suicide. Photography is a passion that he suppressed his entire life because of social interaction and self confidence issues associated with Aspergers. Three years ago, he picked up a camera again after 23 years and has been striving to find the courage to express himself since.

About this photo: “I like to photograph horses, portraits and street photography. This is one of the shots I am proud of. It is a photograph is of my landlord. Old school. I call it ‘Machine Head … A Gift for a Friend.’”
