Please welcome first-time contributor Fili Olsefski, a woman born in Poland who currently resides in Athens, Greece. Fili has experienced depression and mental health challenges through friends and herself, which she describes as holding on from cliffs and from haunted people, and being thrown into mud and wire. Fili holds an MA in Fine Arts, with a painting concentration. She has been published in countless magazines and won numerous awards.

About this series: “Painters claim that light’s everything. But that has turned into a cliche motto- we’d better forget about it.

In this series, I try to sum up what’s left of these beams that would be visible to the naked eye and to recollect any rays easy to grasp by our bare mind; our sun is of that kind that’s been poisoned, that kind that’s irreparably broken. In our case, any light serves as a survival manual, yet we are restricted to access it.

  1. Great essay Fili !! I can relate to the feeling in your images of a certain disconnection with the full, complete reality, as if there was always a veil between us and the fullness of joy in life. Hope you are getting closer to happiness and connection!!!
