Nostalgia

image1

Photo taken by contributor Morgan, a 21-year-old woman living in California. Morgan has suffered from bipolar depression and anxiety for many years. She experienced her first anxiety attack at the age of 10, and it has been a battle ever since. Her mental health improved greatly after the birth of her daughter, when she felt true unconditional love and acceptance from someone. Morgan thinks very passionately about photography. It’s so much more than just taking pictures to her, it’s a coping mechanism.

About this photo: “I was asked by a family member to take a picture for her that she could hang in her laundry room. She requested that it be “happy laundry”. I feel like I did a decent job depicting “happy laundry”. I mean, you can only be so happy while doing laundry, am I right? Anyways… In my opinion, this photo gives me the feeling of warmth and nostalgia just through the colors alone. It gives me a sense of simpler times. When I showed it to my Grandma she had said that it brought back so many memories for her, that it almost seemed like the photo was captured in a different decade than it was. I’m so glad I was able to capture the clothes moving delicately during a soft breeze because I feel like that gives off such a nice summertime vibe. I love this photo because it simply just makes me feel happy inside. I plan to hang it in my laundry room as well so that maybe I can feel happy while during laundry too..
