In Thine Own Eyes

Photo taken by contributor Kyle Anderson, a man from Saskatchewan, Canada. Kyle is a health care professional in his forties who has battled depression and addiction for most of his life. He escapes by letting the camera become his mind’s eye, and hopes that each photo he takes allows others to see the world as he sees it, even for a split second.

About this photo: “My father, a retired psychiatric nurse, suffers from macular degeneration. He can’t see the damage it has done to his eye. While visiting I took a macro shot of his bad eye so he could look at it closely. Upon viewing the image on my camera he became somber. I asked him what was wrong. ‘These are the old men’s eyes I used to look into when I first started working the “deteriorated ” ward when I was 19. Now I know what they were thinking.'”
