Women in White (2 Diptychs)

Photos taken by first-time contributor Claire Elisabeth, a native of Daytona Beach, Florida. Throughout her life, she has resisted the self-awareness of her fluctuating anxieties tied to sexual identity, and childhood trauma. At the age of eleven, her family’s home and all of its contents burned to the ground, leaving her with an obsession for hoarding things, and hiding feelings. She initially sought out and found community in her pursuit for photographic education. Photography offered a way for her to channel her struggle with her own identity, as well as offer tribute to the beauty of the female form.

About these photos: “These photographs are my most sacred. Nothing has moved me as much as this moment, and nothing else ever will. I had the rare and fleeting opportunity to be a bystander and witness to love in one of the most beautifully raw and genuine forms, shot with t-max 35mm film. Film is a fragile thing and fading from this world. Too rare to find and easily ruined. Like love, it must be treated gently and cherished. This series of portraits are of two young women who lovingly shared their journey together in the prime of their life. Two of the most effervescent souls, connected at the heart. Life moves so quickly, and time doesn’t stop. However, when I see these photographs… it at least gives pause.
