Photo by contributor Nat, a 70-year-old man who has been interested in photography since he was a kid. He has suffered from chronic depression for many years. Usually the loss of a loved one, rejection, or anything that triggers feelings of low self-esteem will lead to a challenging time for him. Lately, he is rediscovering the joy of the act of photography, and waiting for that moment which tells a special story to the casual observer.
About this photo: “’Alone’ shows a homeless man in the mid 60s.“

Not many people choose to capture the difficulties and harsher end of life in their photos. That photo certainly does tell a story.

Glad you are taking photography. It does focus outside. A sobering shot.

For those who are alone…
That is what came to me when I saw your photograph. I also live with Depression.
While it can be debilitating at times, I can only imagine the loneliness of homelessness. Maybe I am projecting my own feelings. This is a powerful photograph and I thank you for sharing your work.

This image may capture hopelessness like none other that I’ve seen. I hope it evokes an empathy in all who see it.
