Overexposed

Photo taken by contributor Jacque who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and ADHD. She is a graphic designer, wife, and mother to two boys. She is learning to draw from God’s strength to get her through every day. She has also found art and music to be great healers and outlets for the soul.

About this photo: “I often feel like I’m so overexposed as I go throughout my day.

I long to creep back into the safety of my darkened room under the covers. Away from the world I feel like I don’t really fit into.

Television, social media and magazines all show happy people around me all enjoying a life filled with the things that I know are bad for me because they trigger things inside me.  They are reading things I can’t read because they effect my moods, going places I can’t go because of some fear or anxiety that might occur, these people are laughing as they enjoy all the things “normal” people do in their everyday lives.

When I’m overexposed to all these things in the outside world…

I begin to see just how my BP has turned me into an underexposed person. But is that really a bad thing?  The questions lingers…”

  1. I blog on mental health issues and humane care. Having just recently started offering art and pix on the side, it seemed such a cool time to find your great post, which I’ve eagerly reblogged. Thanks!

  2. I also have BP and am starting my Masters this week. My anxiety is through the rood and I am just trying to manage it. I follow this blog and love all the photos but this image and your write up really captured for me my feelings right now as well. Thank-you!
