Birds of a Feather

Photo taken by contributor Brandon Halley, a 20-year-old fine art photography student from St. Louis, Missouri. Brandon suffers from severe anxiety and depression, and is currently in recovery from self-harm. Realizing that photography/digital art was the only way he knew how to relieve stress in a healthy manner, he started doing it more often in hopes of being noticed and making a living off of it, all while improving himself personally.

About this photo: “I am currently on summer break back home from college and do not have a job. I’ve always wanted to make money making photographs and that’s really what I have been trying to do (and actually, doing quite well with it so far.) It is really stressful, but at the same time I have a sense of being free because once I get a few photo jobs I know I can still eat for the next week or two, and get where I need to be. Ultimately, this photo is just reflecting on current feelings, being free, relaxed happy , and motivated to make money from doing what I enjoy the most.”
