Bipolar Abstraction

Photo taken by a contributor in New Jersey. She’s a woman in her thirties who has had many diagnoses over the years, including major depressive disorder and bipolar II, as well as traits of borderline personality disorder, OCD, and ADD.

About this photo: “Sometimes abstract photos capture my moods even better than photos I take of people, places or things. They’re unexpected, unpredictable, and change from one frame to the next, much like my moods. I took this one sleepless night, on the move, dancing around with a glow stick and my camera. To me, it evokes mania/hypomania and insomnia emerging from the darkness of depression.
