There Are No Words

On this World Autism Awareness Day, please say a warm hello to a first-time contributor from South Africa. He was diagnosed several years ago at age forty with Aspergers and Major Depression. Last year, he left his job in the corporate sector to try and rebuild for his family after reaching a personal low that left him feeling useless and thinking often about suicide. Photography is a passion that he suppressed his entire life because of social interaction and self confidence issues associated with Aspergers. Three years ago, he picked up a camera again after 23 years and has been striving to find the courage to express himself since.

  2. Silent Horse has found a voice. My wonderful teenage grandson is on the spectrum. He is a priceless gift to the family and needs to focus on his immense talents instead of his painful struggle for friendship and respect.

  11. Add me to the list of “likers” of this photo! Actually, I never before reflected on horses’ eyelashes, would not even be sure they have any, but on this one you see them so clearly. Eyelashes have the function to protect us from sand and dust, things that disturb us. Hold on to your photography, no matter what, follow your own voice.

  15. This is a beautiful shot of a beautiful animal. The foal’s gentleness – maybe even hesitance – shine through. Wonderful focus, and the contrast in the black and white is just right. Did I say I love it? 8^).

  16. If others don’t like it-TOO BAD FOR THEM!!! I think it is a very provocative, pensive shot.I, too have Asperger Syndrome and relating disorders.
