Trapped In My Head

Photo taken by contributor Lori who has fought a lifelong battle with severe anxiety, depression, OCD, and PTSD. She has had many people in her family also struggle with mental health issues, including a mother with depression; father with anxiety, depression, and OCD; and an uncle with schizophrenia. Three of Lori’s four children also suffer differing combinations of anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and/or chronic insomnia. Lori is a long-time single mother who’s had very little in the way of resources except courage and resilience. She feels like a sensitive soul trying to find a place in what feels like a loud, angry, cruel world.

About this photo: “This setting captured the feeling of a deep and rich yet often terrifying inner world that has made me feel separate from the light that so many others seem to live and breathe in.

  2. I can absolutely relate to that feeling of separateness, and feeling trapped and unable to be part of the sunshine world so many other people seem able to live in. How DO they do it? Going down the road of what’s wrong with me in that I cannot do this is a painful thing. Good job of expressing this in photo and words – it’s a tough place to be, thanks for sharing. Your post really speaks to me.
