Dust to Dust

Photo taken by Luis Rosado, a Floor Supervisor and Lighting Technician of a film equipment rental house. He has been suffering from anxiety and depression for over 30 years, and has been sober for 4 years from an alcohol problem that lasted over 20 years. Photography has always been a wonderful outlet for him to capture and hold on to the brighter moments in his life.

About this photo: “This one is called “Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust.” Taken Summer of 2011 while walking on the beach with family. The cloudy windy day lent itself well to this photo. It reminds me that we all have a beginning and an end. It’s what we do with our lives that make the difference. My alcoholism led me to waste 20 years of my life. I sat by and wallowed about my lot in life for a good long time until treatment and therapy helped me to realize I do matter and still have a lot of great things to do. Everyone counts.”

  1. Yes, Luis, you do matter even I don’t know you. Keep on taking pictures. I priest once told us that nothing is wasted even your suffering. Therefore, don’t let the history of alcoholism go to waste. Take Care.

  2. Wow, that’s beautiful. Just this brief interaction of seeing this photo and reading this post and description has touched me deeply, so you do matter greatly and thank you so much for the inspiration going into 2013.
