Photos taken by Bekr (Bipolar Girl) a 37-year-old woman who lives in Nevada. She always knew she was “different.” She was diagnosed with depression as a teenager, then finally diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder in her 20’s, along with PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and ADHD. She has also been a self harmer. It has been a real struggle and she thinks it is a miracle she is alive, but she believes her guardian angel was definitely looking after her for a reason – and she believes that reason is to advocate for mental illness, and help others feel not so alone in this journey we call life.
About these photos: “I took the photos when I was in a dark mood. Although I was feeling dark at the time of taking the photos, they also gave me hope. They made me realize that we are here for such a short time, and once we are gone, we are gone… That made me realize to appreciate every day I have, whether good or bad. To remain hopeful no matter what.”

There is a song about angels and hope and it goes “soft as a voice of an angel … hope for a gentle tomorrow …. whispering hope….” You take beautiful photos. May I make a copy for my file. I too suffer from a chemical imbalance in the brain. It’s in the genes. Remain hopeful, stay alive. Take care.

I have many such photos taken over the years – with different cameras, different cemeteries, different conditions (fog is awesome for these statuary!)
I would have never thought to compose them like this! It’s brilliant – congrats on a really fantastic piece. Now I have to go do something similar. 😉
