Photo taken by Thirdeyemom, who experienced severe postpartum depression after the birth of her first child. It was a terrifying, isolating experience for her, which included terrible insomnia and hallucinations. Thankfully with the help of doctors and family, one week after her son’s first birthday she was able to board a plane to South Africa, resuming her love of travel. Through traveling, writing, and photography she began to see the beauty of the world again.
About this photo: “I took this photo during a six-day trek through Tour de la Vanoise in the French Alps in August. It was another daughter-father hiking trip that I did with my dad and over the course of six days I ended up taking 800 photos! Everything was so incredibly beautiful and serene. I love being outside and especially in the mountains. It is the one place I feel truly alive and at peace. This trip was a much needed break to refresh my heart and soul. I am glad that I had the opportunity once again to share it with my father.“
