An Empty Stare

Photo taken by Carly Mueller from Minnesota. I was depressed at a younge age and felt so alone and felt as if I didn’t have any friends. Through the years  I have overcome that issue, but the cause has still been part of me. I have known people who have issues from Schizophrenia to OCD. No matter how severe the issue everyone has their own battles to fight and that is a big part of the inspiration behind “an empty stare”.  The photo for me meant that even when we feel we are falling apart there is still some of us left. There is still that part that wants to hold on, that’s why some of the natural skin color is still showing through. Most importantly I didn’t want this photo to be focused on one thing. I wanted everyone to see themselves in it and to think about what is important to them.
